Clean Air In Your Home

 Professional Carpet Cleaning Houston

Clean air in your home is why you should change out your air filter monthly or at least quarterly. Besides reducing dust and other pollens It can also greatly decrease the cost of your electric bill.

What Should I Do?

Select an air filter that fits your air duct. If you purchase a filter that is too small or too large, dust and allergens can pass through the cracks and clog your HVAC unit over time—not to mention put you and your family at risk for illness. There are different types of HVAC units which means there are also different types of air filters.

Are There Different Types and Benefits of Air Filters?

Each type of air cleaner has its pros and cons, we are going to give you the down-low on each type and how each one will benefit you. In the end, you are free to make your own choice on the air cleaner you use. but we would like you to know the benefits of each one so you can make an informed decision.

Carbon Air Filters

As oxygen passes through a Carbon air filter, its pores expand and become highly absorbent. These pores are what catch fibers and particles, effectively barring them from leaking through to your central heating and air conditioner.

Ionic Air Filters

These filters (also known as “ionizers”) depend on voltage to charge air molecules. This means that they use negatively charged ions (“anions”) to attract dust and allergen particles in the air, the same way static electricity from a balloon can attract your loose hairs.

H0EPA Air Filters

Also known as “high efficiency particulate absorbing” filters, HEPA filters are comprised of fiberglass fiber mats that trap airborne particles, these are more absorbent and efficient at removing particles from the air and can eliminate up to 99.97% of dust and allergens.

UV Light Air Filters

These filters work by using a chemical reaction that involves titanium dioxide and UV light. This photochemical process effectively neutralizes any carbon-based organic compounds, such as mold or bacteria, that pass through the filter by allowing UV light to break them down.

Remember that just because an air filter is “more effective” in some situations does not mean that it is the best air filter to use on your HVAC unit. Be sure to investigate the proper dimensions for the air filter and check to make sure you’re getting the right filter for your specific system.

Final Thoughts

Monthly replacements of your air filter can greatly reduce the pollutants in your home. Dust, allergens and dust mites can cause an unhealthy living environment. After you have properly installed your air filters, we recommend to also have your carpet cleaned

(Also, think about getting your air ducts cleaned. i’m not sure how often but maybe if not annually at least every other year. Especially if you have allergies.)
